Where are you?
Humility
Consider this: No one human, yourself included, can be the authority on eternity, morality, or truth. And here are just a few reasons why:
We are limited in our mortality. We do not choose our own existence - when, where, or to whom we were conceived and born. We have a beginning, and we have an ending: you may be able to shorten or lengthen your life on this earth to a small extent, but ultimately your life on this earth will expire without escape from death.
We are limited with our morality. We have all made mistakes. Sometimes our ways of thinking, feeling, or behavior are naturally harmful. At times, we even choose to do wrong, knowing what we are about to do is wrong: for example, sometimes we do not treat others as we would like to be treated. The fact is, that you, along with humanity, are not perfect, and unless you are filled with a lot of pride, you can admit that.
We are also limited in our perspective. Of all there is to know of reality - science, art, history, literature, mathematics, languages, geography - even more so - what others are thinking, the future - what do we really know? Very, very little. This is even more the case of the unseen, like truth, eternity, or the spiritual.
Desire
There is One who is the Creator. He is both Great and Good. He loves you and He promises to reveal Himself to you if you humbly seek Him with all their heart. See why you should seek Him:
There is one who is without the limits we have. He has no beginning or end. He exists outside of time, space, or matter. He is Eternal. He is Infinite. He is Transcendent. He is Omnipotent, that is, All-Powerful, the Almighty. He is the Creator of time, space, and matter. He is Great, greater than us, greater than all things, greater than what we can comprehend.
Not only is He great, but He is Good. He is full of Glory in all His ways, including His morality and character. He is Pure. He is Love. He is True and Righteous altogether. He is Holy, Holy, Holy. He full of Grace and Mercy. And He is perfectly Just. And He is the Life and Light. He is the source of Meaning and Joy and Peace. He is the Sovereign Judge, and Worthy of it.
He is also All-knowing, All-wise. He is Truth. He is Understanding in all His ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways. He knows all the past, present, and future, while allowing the free will of man as He designed. He is perfect in all his ways.
Seek & Find
The One True and Living God is not hidden. Rather, to those who have a heart to know Him, He reveals Himself. Receive the light he gives, even when it exposes hard things about yourself. Respond with humility, repentance, and surrender and you will be truly blessed. Below are several different realities through which God reveals Himself.
-
Creation/ Nature/ Science - God reveals Himsel through empirical evidence. God, who is far beyond our comprehension, has allowed us with science, the study of nature, to see this empirical evidnece that points to an uncaused, eternal, powerful, intelligent cause. Scientific realities like order, the fine tuning of the universe, irreducible complexity, the origination of life, and more. Science, the study of nature, demonstrate the necessity of His existence logically. One cannot have design without a designer, art without an artist, laws without a lawgiver, information without intelligence. Our existence as personal, relatable beings also points to a creator who is personal and capable of relationship.
-
God reveals Himself by His explanation of this reality, by His comfort to those suffering, and by His response of redemption and judgment. God has explained in the Bible that suffering exists because of sin. He also explains that sin exists because he not only created angelic beings that had the ability of free agency and rebellion, but also because we as mankind are made in His image, which includes free agency, or a free will, also. Free will exists at least in part so that real love and real relationship between us and God and between one another, can really exist. When God created the earth and mankind, all was very good. But God gave mankind the options to continue in His goodness, or to rebel. Mankind chose to rebel. This separates from God and brings Judgment, but God is also full of mercy and grace. With this, He offers comfort and care for those suffering, and has made a plan of redemption and restoration called the Gospel, or Good News.
-
God reveals Himself by interventions in history, like His covenant with Israel, miracles involving leaders, the rise and fall of nations. Although does not always seem to interven, His hand can be seen bringing good even from the evil actions of mankind. He continues to demonstrate His Sovereignty as the world’s story continues fulfilling many prophecies He has given which all lead to His overall plan to one day bring redemption and restoration with a new heaven and a new earth.
-
God reveals Himself authoritatively in the detailed, written Word of God validated through miracles of the writers, fulfilled predictions, supernatural coherence, transformational power, and more. It is sufficient to make one wise to salvation in Jesus Christ and to allow believers in Christ to live righteously in this world. It is His infallible, inerrant, indestructible Word. Again, its detailed teachings are the final authority for faith and practice.
-
God reveals Himself personally, in the miraculous incarnation, the incomparable life, the sacrificial death, and the victorious resurrection, appearances, and ascension of Jesus.
-
God is revealing Himself to us by HIs Holy Spirit and His Children (those who truly know Him through faith in Jesus Christ). His Spirit is at work to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment so that souls may be convicted of their own sin and repent (confess and forsake it) and find forgiveness and redemption. He is the agent of God’s grace, which enables us not only to repent if we choose, but to understand truths from God’s Word and to discern. For those who turn form sin toward God, and place their saving faith in the person and work of Jesus by God’s grace, He regenerates them to be new creations, He seals them to be eternally secure, He produces spiritual fruit and provides spiritual gifts so that they may be witnesses of the Good News of Jesus to the world. Although those who are redeemed by God through faith in Christ (His Children) are not perfect and do have failures, they are also the recipients and channels of God’s grace and often of His Spirit’s work.

God reveals Himself at times through super personal, supernatural interventions, like special answers to prayer, miracles, dreams, visions, near death experiences, and more. Sometimes these types of occurrences involve false spirits, but in many cases, God has used these types of things to show His goodness and glory and to get our attention so that we may seek and find Jesus!
